The Nine Elements of Digital Citizenship

The first one is about the Digital Access, it is all about the equal rights of other people when it comes to the innovation of technology, some people cannot use the computer/technology and some place are not given a chance to be innovated in terms of digital materials. The country should promote the equal rights to the innovation of technology to their respective region so that they can be globally competitive.

The second element is all about the Digital Commerce, just like in the real world, the virtual world also uses the concept of business, in fact, this element talks about the transactions such as buying and selling that people do with the use of internet. Netizens should be aware of what they are doing. They should also know that there are legitimate and illegitimate business that is circulating around the internet.

The third Element is all about the Digital Communication, this element is all about the interaction that is happening in the internet, for example, in the later times, people write letters to have a communication with someone and it will take a long time to get a reply from them, but now, people can easily communicate and have a constant relationship with other people with the use of technology.

The fourth element is all about the Digital Literacy, it is all about the infusion of technology in education, in this part, learners are using the technology to gather information and have interaction with one another to create new set of meaningful ideas.

The fifth element is all about the Digital Etiquette, netizens or people who uses the internet should have proper netiquette which is very simple because it is also the same proper behavior that we are showing in the real world, as an example participating in blogs is a proper behavior a netizen should have, also, giving credits to the information that we gathered in the internet.

The sixth element is the Digital Law, in the society that we are living today in the real world there are laws that helps in managing the community, also, in the virtual world, there are laws that a netizen must abide, example of things that are prohibited is illegally downloading a music or an art just because you see it in the internet, things such as these are a form of art which artist/s or creator/s should be payed of for their hard works, another example is that plagiarizing the work of other. Netizens should citate the author of the source of information.

The seventh element is about the Digital Rights And Responsibilites wherein this element talks about the rights of the user to give out their opinion about a certain issue or topic but still it has its limitations, their opinion that they stated should not offend someone or it does not go against the rules and standards of the platform they are using. (e.g Facebook, Wikis)

The eighth element talks about the Digital Health and Wellness which is really significant, eye safety of the netizen is the first priority because of the harmful effect of gadgets to the human eye that can damage the eyesight if was used for a long period of time.

The last and ninth element is all about the Digital Security for Self Protection, it is all about the protection of the user itself for the threats that is just around the corner of the internet example of this are those threats that is all about the stealing of identity of other people that can be use for sexual purposes or criminal activities.
